Recent Bird records (South Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and the old county of Avon)

I have been in Norfolk 18th-21st September, Some great birds seen including

1 Olive Backed Pipit, 3 Red Breasted Flycatchers, 3 Yellow Browed warblers, 2 Barred Warblers, 4 Long Tailed Skua, 2 Cory’s Shearwater, 1 Sooty Shearwater,  1 Caspian Gull, 2 Velvet Scoter, 1 Hen Harrier and a Merlin

21st September

2 Osprey at Chew Valley Lake

Black Tern at Cotswold water Park on pit 74

Pectoral sandpiper reported at new passage

20th September

Rose Coloured Starling Barrow Gurney

5 Little Stint 9 Curlew sandpipers at Northwick /Pilning wetlands

18th September

7 Little stint at Northwick / Pilning Wetlands

16th September

White winged Black Tern still at Chew Valley Lake

Red Backed shrike at Sand Point

15th September

Red Backed Shrike at Sand Point

1 Curlew Sandpipers and 3 Little Stints at Northwick / Pilning wetlands

5 Whinchat and 6 Redstart on Chipping Sodbury Common

White Winged Black Tern still at Chew Valley Lake

 

September butterflies to look for are Clouded Yellows and Brown Hairstreak plus Adonis Blues
