"I use this occasionally with my BTX/ 115mm set up which I am lucky enough to use ( particularly at the moment)As I am able to sea watch from my property. Which means I also have the luxury of being able to attach the extender in a controlled environment I personally would not like to have do this in the field. I have found it useful to clinch the ID of a distant Grebe or Auk Ect sat on the Sea or read the ring on the leg of a Gull or Goose at low tide. Which is why I got it . As expected because of the reduced field of view depth of field, slight loss of brightness, basically the usual stuff you would expect with a high magnification. I would personally not imagine using it on a busy Sea Watch or for more mobile general Birding. I would say that this is not an essential Item but if you Bird a lot lakes and Reservoirs with Birds giving prolonged views and you are static or Hide based it could have its place. It is made to the usual high standards. Is small and light enough to put in your pocket. It does the job I wanted it too."

The ME 1.7x magnification extender increases the magnification by a factor of 1.7. You can quickly and easily attach it using the bayonet catch to all the objective and eyepiece modules in the ATX/STX/BTX family. In the case of the BTX 65 and 85, the magnification increases from 30x to 50x, and from 35x to 60x for the BTX 95.
